EVENT IDENTITY

2018 AKA NATIONAL CONVENTION

A bold Shreveport emblem made to hold its own in print, on screen, and in embroidery.

The Brief

The American Kitefliers Association’s 2018 National Convention in Shreveport, Louisiana needed an event identity that captured the energy of the gathering, represented its host city, and could be reproduced across several formats.

The Design Problem

Convention identities naturally carry a great deal of information: the organization, event, year, location, and visual character. The challenge was to organize those elements into one clear emblem without losing legibility when the artwork was reduced or translated into embroidery.

The Response

I developed a compact badge built around the Shreveport city silhouette, bold lettering, and simplified shapes. Strong contrast and controlled detail gave the mark presence at display size while allowing it to remain recognizable in print and stitched applications.

Outcome

The finished identity feels energetic and specific to its location while remaining practical—a self-contained event mark designed to travel consistently from screen to printed piece to embroidered patch.
